How MixConvert In-Browser Conversion Works

MixConvert is a 100% client-side WebAssembly online file converter and local browser PWA. All file decoding, format restructuring, and encoding execute in volatile device RAM with zero bytes uploaded to remote servers.

Execution Architecture

How does MixConvert convert files locally in the browser without uploading to a server?

MixConvert converts media files locally using compiled WebAssembly (WASM 2.0) binaries and Web Workers running directly inside your browser's local memory heap. Zero bytes of your audio, video, image, or document files are uploaded to remote servers, eliminating network bandwidth bottlenecks while guaranteeing absolute mathematical privacy. Because processing runs in a secure client sandbox, users can convert files up to ~2GB with no account signups, no watermarks, and no subscription fees.

01

Local File Ingestion (W3C File API)

When you drop a file or paste via Ctrl+V, the standard W3C FileReader API reads the raw binary data into a JavaScript ArrayBuffer directly in your device's RAM. Memory buffers are isolated locally; no network sockets are initialized, and zero outgoing HTTP POST/PUT packets leave your device.

02

Worker Sandboxing (W3C Web Workers)

To keep the user interface 100% fluid at 60 FPS, the buffer is transferred to a background DedicatedWorkerGlobalScope via zero-copy transferable objects. This isolates heavy memory-intensive transforms from the browser's UI thread and prevents interface freezing during large conversions.

03

WebAssembly Transcoding (WASM & FFmpeg)

Native C and C++ libraries (FFmpeg compiled to WASM, libheif, libwebp, libopus) decode the source container, perform color and frequency transforms using 128-bit SIMD vector extensions, and re-encode into the target format within an isolated linear memory heap (WebAssembly.Memory).

04

Direct Blob Download (W3C Object URL)

The processed byte array is encapsulated into an in-memory blob: URL via URL.createObjectURL(). When you click "Download", your browser writes the binary stream directly to your local operating system file system. Once downloaded or the tab is closed, memory buffers are immediately garbage collected and purged.

Compliance & Legal Guarantees

Why is client-side WebAssembly conversion safer than cloud converters for HIPAA and GDPR compliance?

Traditional cloud converters transmit unencrypted or temporarily stored file copies to remote servers, creating subpoena exposure and violating HIPAA privacy standards or GDPR cross-border transfer restrictions. MixConvert executes 100% on the user's local machine, meaning sensitive contracts, patient records, and confidential media never leave device RAM. Because 0 bytes are transmitted over external networks, organizations achieve instant compliance without needing third-party Data Processing Agreements (DPAs).

Independent Audit

How can I independently verify in DevTools that zero bytes are uploaded during conversion?

You can audit MixConvert's zero-upload architecture using your browser's native Developer Tools (F12) under the Network tab filtered to Fetch/XHR. When you drop a file and click Convert, the Network panel displays 0 outbound POST or PUT requests containing file payload bytes. All decoding and encoding operations execute strictly in local WebAssembly linear memory, which is immediately purged once the browser tab is closed.

  1. Press F12 or right-click anywhere and select Inspect.
  2. Click on the Network tab at the top of the DevTools window.
  3. Filter by Fetch/XHR to observe all dynamic data transmission.
  4. Drop a file into MixConvert and click Convert.
  5. Observe the Network activity: you will see zero outbound POST or PUT requests containing your file bytes. All conversion operations happen purely in internal memory.
