How WebAssembly Transformed the Browser

MixConvert was conceived to render cloud file uploads obsolete. Using WebAssembly (WASM)—a high-performance, low-level bytecode standard developed jointly by the W3C, Mozilla, Google, Apple, and Microsoft—we compile battle-tested open-source libraries like FFmpeg, libheif, libvips, and pdf-lib into binaries that execute natively inside your web browser.

Instead of sending your megabytes over cellular or Wi-Fi connections to a server cluster across the world, your browser executes the transcoding algorithms locally using your computer or phone’s multi-core processor. Your files remain sequestered inside your browser’s sandboxed execution environment. They are never transmitted across a socket, never written to a remote disk, and never analyzed by third-party algorithms.
